Scan Methodology

Understanding our technology

Our lactose detection system uses advanced algorithms to analyze product ingredients and provide reliable ratings. This technology combines barcode recognition, image analysis, food database research, and advanced methodology to determine if products can be consumed by lactose intolerant individuals.

Understanding the Lacto-Score (A-E)

Our Lacto-Score system uses a 5-level rating inspired by the Nutri-Score, making it easy to identify safe products at a glance.

A

A - Safe

0g lactose per 100g. Completely lactose-free and safe for everyone.

B

B - Generally Safe

≤0.5g lactose per 100g. Minimal lactose, generally well-tolerated.

C

C - Caution

≤1g lactose per 100g. Moderate lactose, consume with care.

D

D - Risky

≤1.5g lactose per 100g. High lactose, likely to cause symptoms.

E

E - High Risk

>1.5g lactose per 100g. Very high lactose, avoid if intolerant.

Product Not Found

Product not in database. Manual ingredient check required.

Barcode or Image Recognition

Barcode or Image Recognition

When you scan a barcode, our system identifies the product and searches food databases.

  • Instant barcode detection with camera
  • Product identification
  • Ingredient information retrieval

AI Analysis

AI Analysis

Our AI system analyzes the ingredients to determine lactose content using advanced algorithms. If information is not available in databases, our AI will analyze the ingredient list from a photo to determine if the product can be consumed.

  • Ingredient keyword detection
  • Lactose content estimation
  • Confidence level calculation

Result Display

Result Display

Results are displayed with color-coded ratings and detailed lactose content information.

  • Traffic light color system
  • Lactose content in grams
  • Confidence indicators

Camera mode analysis

When scanning ingredient photos, our AI uses optical character recognition (OCR) and ingredient analysis to determine lactose content.

  • OCR text extraction from images
  • Ingredient list analysis
  • AI-powered lactose detection

For best results in camera mode:

  • Ensure good lighting conditions
  • Hold camera steady and close to text
  • Make sure ingredient text is clearly visible
  • Avoid shadows and glare

Important limitations

  • Results are estimates based on available data
  • Some products may not be in our database
  • Ingredient formulations may change without notice
  • Cross-contamination risks are not always detectable
  • Regional variations in products may exist

⚠️ Important: If you have severe lactose intolerance, always check product labels and consult healthcare professionals. This application is designed for lactose intolerant people and NOT for people with an allergy to milk proteins.
